Wild About Water: WaterFest 2019

Over 500 K-3rd grade students from various elementary schools in Knox County descended upon Waterfest 2019 at the Ijams Nature Center in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 6, 2019. A nearly two-decade tradition, WaterFest engages students to learn about water quality concepts with fun-packed activities such as water quizzing, water habitats, water rockets, miniature sailboat races, music and more. Each year there is a Poetry & Art Competition open to K-5 elementary school students. The winning poems and artwork were selected on the basis of reflecting this year’s theme: Wild About Water. All entries were showcased at WaterFest. Members and volunteers of the Water Quality Forum and the CAC Americorps Water Quality Team are the driving force that makes this water education event successful each year.

Tim Gangaware, Assistant Director, TNWRRC, serves as an Executive Committee member for the Water Quality Forum.
