Fall 2019

The Tennessee Water Resources Research Center (TNWRRC) is a federally designated state research institute supported in part by the U.S. Geological Survey. It serves as a primary link among water-resource experts in academia, government, and the private sector. TNWRRC is housed within the Institute for a Secure and Sustainable Environment (ISSE) at the University of Tennessee Knoxville.

Request for Pre-Proposals

TNWRRC is pleased to announce the USGS 104b RFP for FY 2020 has been issued. The deadline for submissions is October 18, 2019. The Request for Pre-Proposals can be downloaded here.

TNWRRC 104b FY2019 Funded Projects

For the FY2019, TNWRRC had two funded faculty projects and four funded student projects, as follows:

  • Faculty Project: Understanding Effluent Movement in Clayey Soils when using Subsurface Drip Dispersal to apply Domestic Wastewater
  • Faculty Project: Investigate Industrial Facilities Storm Water Quality and SWPPP Performance
  • Student Project: Real-Time Adaptive Detention Control Network: An Application in the Conner Creek Watershed
  • Student Project: From the Plot to the Catchment Scale: Towards the Next Generation of Hydrodynamics – Sediment Transport Model
  • Student Project: Harmful Algal Blooms in Surface Water in Amphibian Ponds and in the Green River at Mammoth Cave B National Park, Kentucky
  • Student Project: Flood History from Paleoflood Deposits in Cut Bank Soil Profiles in Chickmauga Reservoir, Tennessee, River, U.S.A.

Let's Win a 104g in Tennessee

The USGS/NIWR 104(g) program is a national competition. A Tennessee institute has not been awarded a 104(g) grant in recent history. We would like to see a successful 104(g) grant this coming year and TNWRRC is ready to help.

Urban Waters Report Card

An Urban Waters Report Card (UWRC) for Tennessee is under development to provide MS4s (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems) a way to track incremental improvements to their streams—from stormwater management to stream rehabilitation efforts.
